Saw this band at Rawtenstall Astoria around 64 and still pay the single Bring It Jerome I think it refers to Jerome Arnold,  Bo Diddleys' bass player still sounds great. Roy.

I can still remember vividly what must have been one of DJM's first gigs. Unlikely though it sounds - the Blackpool School of Art in Palatine Road. You blew the first group off the stage and then blew our minds with "Who do you Love" etc. My first intro to R&B at 16 and I've been hooked ever since. Hope all the group is well - how about a reunion gig, with free zimmer frames available? Thanks for the memories.

Hi Guys! Jon Fenwick sent me the website and it's great to read comments and recollections from all these names of old friends in this days. I count myself lucky to have gone on quite a few gigs with Miffy and the band and what fantastic times we had! Like the Sovereign over at Moss Side, Bluesville in Wigan stick out in my memory of classic 60's rave-ups with Dave and the band belting out "Who do you love" and everyone going crazy with it. It was "Thee Best". Thanks for the memories, everyone! And take care of yourselves, you all must be as old as I am by now!

Back again to let you guys know that there is now a very good paperback book published about the Imperial Ballroom Nelson. Lists all the visiting bands of the 60's including DJ&M (Many times). Was playing Jimmy Reed in the car today and thought "must visit the website again to see if there is any more news e.g. reunion" Well if Cream can do it, why not the Preston mob?

Came across this site by accident & what memories it brought back! A Liverpool band, we were supporting either The 'Teens or Pretty Things (so long ago) at Bolton Boneyard and I'd just nailed the solo that afternoon on "To catch that man". I was quite chuffed with it & was looking forward to playing it that night. Unfortunately our vocalist had got hold of some bombers that evening and generously shared them amongst us. I don't remember a bloody thing about that night and "woke up" 2 days later to find the band had broken up. I never did find out how the solo sounded. To make matters worse, some scouse git nicked my record at a party a few days later & regretfully I never got round to replacing it. Anyone know where I can get a copy?

Only just come across website.I am a bit late in catching on looking at some of the date entries. But now I'm here I might as well post a message to all involved
Discovered the band 17 years ago when I was a young 16 year Mod / R&B fanatic and the first thing I thought When I took "Jerome " home to listen to was - I bet these were good to see live - All of the 45,s are first class British R&B and I haven't been lucky enough yet to hear any unreleased recordings except the Diggin' acetate.
Top marks to all involved with website and even bigger top marks to all original members of the band for creating amazing gritty and arrogant sounding British R&B recordings that are in the same class as Him And The Others / The Birds / The Stylos and of course The Pretty Things.
I played Jerome in Paris the other weekend to a floor full of like minded people but the only difference was that were French ( so they cant be that bad as a nation if they get up and dance to David John & The Mood eh) Best regards to all involved with DJM.
Feel free to contact me through my email address it would be a pleasure to discuss the band with anyone who wants to chat about things that don't involve big brother etc

Dave John and The Mood promo/demo single for sale in a record shop. the shop is in the alley which forms the corner of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford St - It's the one with the orange front on the corner. - £8 - don't know the title, its label says Meeksville Sound, and Demo. My mate found it yesterday and listened to it - quality is good he says. Might be of worth to a fan or collector.

Amazed as some before me that typing the band's name into a search engine actually got results. We had great times in the sixties "palling" out with the guys when they came over to play the Imperial at Nelson. Can't say why we got up to on those nights but they were memorable. Got two of the singles yet, but lost Pretty Thing at a a party. If any of the guys recollect the nights in Nelson, let me know. Still rockin' after all these years and oh, by the way, still have a New Musical Express cutting hailing the band as Stones copyists. We thought the Stones were a pale reflection of the Mood in the 60's.

I was amazed to get a response when I searched for David John and the Mood as a long shot after trying the Downliner sect. I misspent my mid teen years at the kubi club or was it the cubi club in Rochdale. I had all three singles, and lost them. got them on cassette tape somewhere. p.s. is John Worsley the same person I went to school with in Wardle 1960/64?

When Miffy left The Mood for a couple of months or so he sang with my band in Preston. I think we gloried in the name "Sound 5" at the time (around '64ish). At the time D.J.& T.M.were a big deal in Preston and it was like Mick Jagger or John Lennon had joined. We were knocked out. What a great singer! If you see this, Miff, please get in touch.

Managed to track down copies of, 'Bring it to Jerome', 'Diggin' for Gold' on Parlophone & 'To Catch That Man' on Vocalion - the last two within one month of each other a while back. What the heck would have been the odds on that happening these days? My poor credit card is on the critical list as a result. Still, it was worth it for a legendary beat ensemble & Prestons' finest. Maracas a-go-go. All we need now is a Dig-the-Fuzz Dave John & the Mood singles/outakes comp.
